Martindale

The Dashmesh Cultural Center is the neighbourhood's gravitational centre — on weekends the parking lot overflows and the smell of langar carries down the street. Martindale has one of Calgary's most established Punjabi-Sikh communities, and that shapes the texture of the place: cultural events, gurdwara programs, multi-generational households. For everything else, Genesis Centre of Community Wellness handles most of the recreational life — pool, gym, drop-in classes — while the N.E. Community Skatepark sits out front for younger residents who want something to do after school. Day-to-day errands orbit Saddletowne Library and Martindale Pharmacy, both walkable from most of the neighbourhood. The Martindale off-leash area gets steady use, and on most evenings the Genesis Centre parking lot stays busy well into the night.
