Information collected

If you sign up for email updates, I collect your email address. This is stored with our email provider, Buttondown, and used only to send the updates you signed up for.

If you reserve a before-you-buy report, I collect your email address, the address or community you entered, and (if you choose one) what the decision is. This is stored in a Cloudflare D1 database and used only to email you about that report. No payment information is collected, and your IP address is not stored. To have your reservation deleted, email the address below.

If you tap feedback on a traffic alert (Useful, Not useful, Wrong, or what the traffic was actually like), or open an alert's camera, I store that tap with the alert it was about, the page, the time, and a short one-way code made from your browser's user-agent and language settings. The code is only used to count one vote per alert per browser and to stop floods; it cannot identify you, and your IP address is not stored. A small sample of page loads also records which alerts were shown. There is no login and no email involved. This data is kept in a Cloudflare D1 database and used only to measure whether the alerts are right.

This site uses Cloudflare Analytics, which collects anonymous usage data (page views, general location). No personal information is tracked.

How information is used

• Email addresses: Monthly update emails only
• Report reservations: One email about the report you reserved, and nothing else
• Traffic alert feedback: Measuring and improving the accuracy of traffic alerts
• Analytics: Understanding site traffic

Third parties

Your email is not sold or shared with third parties. Cloudflare processes analytics data according to their privacy policy.
