The Maple Ridge Golf Course runs along the eastern edge and gives the neighbourhood a quiet green buffer you feel before you can name it. Maple Ridge School and R. T. Alderman School sit within walking distance for families in the interior streets, and transit handles the main shopping run to the commercial strip to the south. The area has the settled quality of a community that's been here long enough to stop proving itself. The Southland Natural Area along the Acadia border is where the serious dog walkers end up — scruffier and less manicured than the main Maple Ridge off-leash park, which is exactly why the regulars prefer it on weekday mornings.
